Vaulting.
The sport of vaulting really matches my personality. The more I think about it, the more I realize that I am a vaulter. I don’t posses the athleticism that many of my teammates and vaulting peers do, but I thoroughly understand the vault and the nuances of the Bubka/Petrov model. Vaulting takes an analytical mind. It takes a love of acrobatics and thrill seeking. It takes dedication to fight through walls which athletes of few other sports experience. Most importantly, it takes extreme personal motivation to continue and pursue the sport.
There is no other sport like vaulting (except gymnastics maybe…most gymnasts are vaulters and vice versa though). Vaulting is indescribable. It is scary, it is frustrating, and it is intense. So intense.
I have been inspired to dedicate my blog more thoroughly to pole vaulting. Thanks go to Anna Shelley and her incessant football/coldplay/sitcoms/GPATN posting for this measure.
