the unexamined Life isn't worth living

Here we go. Renaud Lavillenie. The KING of tuck and shoot. Unlike Brad Walker and some other hard core tuck and shooters, Mr. Lavillenie has to tuck and shoot. He’s insanely fast, but watch this video, and pause it at the beginning of 16 seconds (16.0 seconds). Now, once again, look at his left arm. He is jamming hard. Very Hard. What he’s doing is extremely impressive. Because he is jamming, he isn’t able to get into the ‘pocket’ that Bubka gets into. He doesn’t achieve a massive pre-stretch in his lunge. If Lavillenie attempted to swing a straight trail leg, he would flag out instantly. Lavillenie needs to tuck and shoot, as said method allows the vaulter to rotate into an inverted position much more quickly. I’ll expand on the physics of this in a later post.
