Of course, the highlight of this video occurs at 23 seconds. In this particular clip (from the 1997 World Championships in Athens, Greece), Bubka clears a height of 6.01 meters. Only 12 men in history have ever cleared this height, with the highest besides Bubka going only 6.06 meters. Bubka’s PR, and the world record, stands at 6.15 meters.

This jump is considered, without a doubt, the greatest vault in history. Bubka made this height look like absolute child’s play. With the correct positioning of the standards, he could have easily jumped 6.4 meters. There will never be another vaulter like Sergey Bubka.
